Just wanted to thank all my readers for staying with me on this blog and I wish everybody happy holidays and a happy 2010.
Finally the market started bouncing back from that horrible depression. Even the real estate market seems to be back on target. At least the Real Estate school around my corner seems to have tons of real estate education material laying around again
So business wise and job wise the market is back on track! 2010 should be better than 2009.
Doing an address search on the web is just a pain. Just tried to look someone up and besides a bunch of paid services there is so much scraped stuff up there, that it is no fun. Fake Facebook profiles, Myspace nonsense and people search engines make it tougher and tougher to find what you are looking for.
Even Twitter and the new Twitter lists make it easy to just create fake profiles and get them up and running quickly.
Finding an address of someone is really just a pain. Wished that Google or whoever would fix this. Until then I will stick with the paid services like the reverse phone lookup pages.
Working in an airport hotel can be great fun for the individual who
enjoys meeting new people from different cultures and learning a few
words from a broad spectrum of languages. The hotel industry, especially the Gatwick hotels industry, requires a worker with a cordial approach and one who is
dedicated to personal efficiency, with those skills pushed to the
limits when working in a major airport hotel.
Although working at an airport hotel may be exciting at times, it is
also a high pressure position where one must be able to cope with
stressed out guests. One of the main reasons a guest chooses an airport
hotel over a downtown accommodation is for the convenience of getting
to the airport on time. During the typical guest check-out, you will
find the patron looking at his watch and exhibiting some impatience
with the final details of the exit paperwork. The front desk employee
must be sensitive to the guest’s worries and concerns about a speedy
check-out, and must be well trained to handle every emergency that
might slow down the process. If the guest seems a bit grumpy, remember
that he is not going out for a leisurely day of sightseeing, but
rather, is in a rush to catch a flight.
The airport hotel employees that receive gratuities may not have the
largest individual tips, but can make up for that with volume. This
type of accommodation remains one of the most bustling and well-booked
of hotels, offering the tipped employee a nice intake for a day’s work.
The setback to the busy hotel schedule is that an employee may be asked
to work overtime during peak seasons or when large tour groups are
checking-in. This may entail a hectic four hour addition to an already
exhausting shift, but for the professional that takes his job
personally, the hourly overage is welcomed.
Some of the best jobs at an airport hotel that pull in a tip on top of
the wages include food and beverage servers, bell hops, valets and
concierge. The steady influx of checked-in guests can be a gold mine
for those who present themselves with congeniality and a helping hand.
Unlike many hotels located in prime tourists locations, the patrons at
the airport hotels tend to be frequent and repetitive customers. This
is particularly true with business travelers who tend to stay at the
same airport-friendly location on each trip. To the seasoned
professional on the hotel team, this is your chance to build a rapport
with that client and increase your popularity and gratuities.
Life at the airport hotel may be a faster pace than the more expensive
hotels with a view, but if you remember why the guest booked that
location in the first place, you are on your way to understanding what
you need to do to make an excellent impression. Be fast, efficient, and
make their stay pleasant, and you just might be one of the reasons why
the traveling business person comes back.

Sport psychology is the studying of mental and psychological conditions that influence and are affected by performance and participation in exercise, sport and physical activity. Professionals are interested in how this participation enhances personal development as well as well-being throughout life.
Someone who has a doctorate in sport psychology has many different career options. Many of these degree programs require students to focus on the psychological part of the field or sport science. Some common careers in Sport psychology are research, university teaching and consulting athletes. Most sport psychologists are currently working as university lecturers or consultants for both business and sport. A sport psychologist usually performs many tasks that are related to sports education and performance. Some choose to teach at university while others choose to work with athletes to increase their motivation and performance levels.
Sports psychology involves many topics, including motivation, considerations in injury and rehabilitation, counseling, assessing talent, well-being, exercise adherence, excellence in sport, youth sport, self-perceptions and performance enhancement. Today, there are no credentials other than a state license that is needed to practice sport psychology. Because sport psychology is not seen as a specific field within the Kinesiology or Physical Education areas, it is not a traditional field that is usually offered by psychology graduate programs
Entry-level jobs with a bachelor’s degree are not easily found and typically form into internships. Most positions require either a masters or doctorate degree as well as training and experience. There are very few graduate programs that offer specialized degrees in sports psychology so it can be challenging to decide what combination of training and experience will qualify a professional to one day be called a ‘sports psychologist’.
Pay for a sport psychologist varies greatly and is based on education, training and the area of specialization. According to the U.S. Depart of Labor’s Occupational Outlook Handbook, the average salary for counseling and clinical psychologists is between $41,850 and $71,880. The average salary for a position in a university was $55,000 in 2001. There are some top sport psychologists that earn six-figure salaries working as consultant for athletes, but most earn a much more reserved yearly income.

There are a number of reasons why you would want to leave your current job. In some cases, the work conditions are not what you had hoped they would be. The opportunities for advancement may be slim to none. Maybe you are simply tired of working in that industry and want to do something new for a change. Whatever the reasons, you may find that breaking up with your job may not be as easy as you think.
In order to break up with a job, it is important to make sure you have a clear understanding of what the job does and does not do for you. Maybe the job doesn’t pay well, but you have great coworkers. The benefits may not be that great, but your boss is really good about letting you have time off when you need it. Make a list of all the good things you receive with the current job, then make a second list of all the drawbacks. Putting it all down on paper will make it much easier to see if keeping the job is worth it, or if you need to get yourself out of that situation before more time passes.
Once you know what your current job does and does not provide, start thinking in terms of what you want to do with the rest of your life. Where do you want to be in ten years? Will you need training or a degree to get there? What can you start doing today to prepare for that future? In particular, what type of work would help you move closer to your eventual goal?

When we think about stocks that could be headed for steady growth in the coming months, we need to take a long, hard look at the market. Stock prices are often determined by the market around and the outlook for current companies. With that in mind, companies like Monster, Inc. have an opportunity to see big time growth in their stock price over the next few months. How is this possible, you ask? It has everything to do with the current economy and how we’re starting to come out of the economic slump. Certain stocks will benefit more than others from that, and Monster is one of those.
At current standing, Monster is sitting at just under $18 per share, pretty steady over the last quarter, but ready to become one of the hot stocks?. What you should know is that Monster’s success as a company will be directly tied with how many people are looking for jobs. The company benefits some when folks lose their jobs, because those individuals use Monster to search for new work. But the better situation is when the economy comes back, because companies will be posting more job openings. As new graduates come out in the workforce, there will be many more positions to choose from in the coming months. Monster, Inc. will help those people hook up with the growing job market.
The economic crunch is not over yet, but it’s close to being over. If you’re able to hop on board with Monster at its current price, you might be able to bring home some nice returns when the stock shoots up over the next year. The growth that investors have seen over the last year has been remarkable and it should continue. This is a stock that has been flying under the radar for quite some time, and it looks like it will continue to be undervalued over the next few months. Its current stock price will head north of $20 by the end of the year, though. When the new year brings along job growth, Monster will benefit directly from that.
It’s important to understand how the changing market impacts various companies. The next part of the equation is to understand how well a business is put together. Is their idea a solid and sustainable one? Monster has all of that and they have a service that isn’t likely to go away in the near future. These things combine to make it a hot stock for the near future.
Funny post over at TheFrisky.com, a popular celebrity gossip site, about unemployment and Style. Thefrisky suggests not to celebrate the loss of a job in sweat pants and t-shirt, but rather make yourself look much hotter:
Here the tips:
1. Concentrate on your skin. Make your skin look healthy and don’t wear make-up every day 2. Invest in beauty routines. However you like that. 3. Go to the doctor. How about the dermatologist? 4. Work out. 5. Choose outfits wisley.
Not sure what to think of this, but definitely agree that it is smart to upgrade outfit and looks when you are trying to find a job.
Bad news over in the job classified business. 31 percent in ad sales dropped for Monster.com. But that’s not a single problem. All major publishers were hurt, says Google I am sure that the bad economy is not helping us much, but I am tired of hearing excuses of companies in the online space. Monster.com has had difficulties in the past and the concept of uploading resumes, setting up an account on searching through a large database is becoming less and less attractive for seekers and employers.
Simply Hired or Indeed.com are the new way of finding jobs. Theladders is also one of these services…which help and are just easier than the old-school job boards such as Monter and Careerbuilder.
It’s 2009 and job social networking, high-end recruiters, job search engines and job search tools for high-end jobs are the way to go.
